The student learns about the "food cycle" in this illustrated course--how the food chain goes from plants to plant-eaters to meat-eaters, and how nutrients from dead plants and animals are returned to the soil so the food cycle can repeat.The student finds out ways in which living things affect each other, and the practical consequences of actions that interrupt or change the food cycle.Some activities include noticing what animals eat, looking for mushrooms in a wooded place, and noting down where the energy in the food from a meal came from.
