Art History 1 and 2
This text is a glossary that goes with Art History 1: Ancient to Post-Renaissance Art and Art History 2: Modern and Non-Western Art.
The learning guides for both courses are included.
The Art History 1 course guides the student through research on the history of art, covering Prehistoric Art, Ancient Egypt and the Near East, Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages in Europe, the Renaissance and Post-Renaissance periods. Some excellent reference materials are recommended, but others may be substituted.This course goes beyond merely looking at old paintings, and has the student do related art activities so that he can then create and view art from a better understanding of prior ideas and techniques.
The Art History 2 course continues the student's research on the history of art, covering Pre- through Post-Impressionism, Modern, Non-Western and traditional art forms. Some excellent reference materials are recommended, but others may be substituted.The student continues to do art activities related to the types of art he is viewing so that he can then create and view art from a better understanding of prior ideas and techniques.
