This is a comprehensive glossary to assist anyone reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. There are over 190 entries, including English words and expressions, religious references and more that can't commonly be found in a high school dictionary. To accommodate the different editions of A Christmas Carol, words are listed by chapter in the order they appear in the book, with an alphabetical index in the back. Included in the introduction is a brief essay giving historical context for the story, as well as an essay regarding figurative language to assist readers with Dickens' rich use of figurative language.
